Nicholas' weight has doubled since his birth 3 and a half months ago.

Nicholas visited the doctor today for three more vaccinations. Everything's good and he now weighs 17 pounds. The doctor was impressed with Nicholas' size, calling him "very healthy."

For the NYC Marathon, Nicholas & Jen, along with friends Randy, Wendy, & David, were spotted on the corner of 1st Avenue and East 80th Street, at what was also known as "mile 18" waiting to see Pete pass by. There are photos from that day under the Miscellaneous Marathon photo section, under "photos." More to follow soon, after we review the videotape and capture some photos from it.

Today, for Halloween, Nicholas dressed-up as a secret-agent, working under cover. The photos are under "month 3" in the photos section if you want to see. You'll notice he's wearing dark glasses, a badge, and is carrying a gun. He also had a two-way radio, not pictured, along with an international Passport, which is in one of the photos.

Bellly Button Hernia

Nicholas' follow-up visit with the surgeon went well. His belly button has healed nicely. He has a small hernia, though, in his belly button that could possibly require more surgery later. The doctor said there was a good chance (about 80%) that he would simply outgrow it in the next 4 to 5 years. If not, the procedure sounds very simple, so there's really nothing to worry about.

13 pounds on September 22, 2004

Nicholas saw the doctor today and now weighs 13 pounds. His belly-button is not healing to our pediatrician's satisfaction, so Nicholas needs to see another doctor tomorrow. There is a chance he will have to undergo a minor procedure to remove a piece of his belly button that is protruding too far. We'll post the results as we know more.

Nicholas had his first surgical procedure yesterday, and he is fine. They removed the bulging piece in his belly button and the prognisis is good. We'll know later whether he will require more surgery for the belly-button hernia they think he may have. Apparently, some children outgrow it and don't require surgery.

Hurricane party at uncle bob's house. I'll supply the wind and rain, you bring the baby....and beer. love bob P.S. bring a kite, I lost mine in the last hurricane.

Unfortunately, uncle Bob's not kidding, folks. Bob's in Florida, and according to reliable sources, he *WAS* flying kites during the past few hurricanes. Pete

11 Pounds

At his last visit with the doctor a few days ago, Nicholas weighed in at 10 pounds 14 ounces. It should be safe to say today he now weighs about 11 pounds.

Gas Medication

Nicholas is very gasy after meals and as a result is very uncomfortable after he eats. He is now taking a tiny squirt of gas medicine called "infants' mylicon" after each meal. Jen and I think the medicine is something like Beano. So far, so good - we think. We'll let you know as things develop.
